In the massive range of keyboard apps that have popped-up in the Google Play store, you’d be hard pressed to find one that allows you to type in any language you want. This is especially true if you’re looking for an Arabic keyboard for Android. Our world is more inter-connected than ever. Communication is easier and more accessible to people all over the world. And whether it’s through texting or social media, typing is a far more popular method of communication than anything else.
If you don’t live in the western world and use a different alphabet than the Roman one, it’s not as easy to find a keyboard that supports your language, and that’s becoming a problem. While you can change the language of your keyboard from your phone’s settings, it’s a lot better when you can also personalize your keyboard while you’re at it. Options are limited for Arabic speakers who want to customize their keyboards, which is why we’ve made a list of the best keyboard apps with which you can get a customized Arabic keyboard for Android.
1. Arabic for ai.type keyboard
Arabic for ai.type keyboard is a language pack that allows you to type in Arabic on the ai.type keyboard app. Therefore, you need to download ai.type before you get the language pack. We’ll run you through some of the app’s best features, so you know what you’re getting before you get it.
Ai.type is a third-party keyboard that promises a fun experience, and it does definitely deliver on that promise. You get thousands of keyboard themes in its in-app Theme Market, but the customization doesn’t end there. You can design your own theme by choosing your favorite colors and features, which you can then upload to the market and have all other ai.type users rate and download it.
What’s more, you also get a great deal of emojis, 800 to be exact, along with over a thousand graphic characters, you can spice up your conversations with. The app also has auto-suggest emojis, which comes in really handy when you don’t want to scroll forever trying to find that one emoji you know you have in your list and is just perfect for the context. On top of all those fun features, ai.type also has amazing auto-correct and word prediction based on self-learning technology, which means the app learns from the way you type.
Overall, ai.type is a great custom keyboard app that offers plenty of customization, while also giving the option of Arabic keyboard free download. What’s not to love?!
2. Redraw Keyboard Emoji & Themes
At first glance, Redraw Keyboard seems to be the kind of fun app that your 13-year-old niece will be just ecstatic about. But if you take a closer look you realize that it’s so much more than that.
Now, unlike ai.type, you don’t need an Arabic keyboard download so you can use this keyboard. In fact, Redraw has Multilingual typing, which means it supports several different keyboard layouts, including for languages who use non-Latin alphabets. With that aspect covered, let’s see what this keyboard app has to offer.
When it comes to keyboard personalization, you’re unlikely to find a better app to customize your typing experience with. In fact, we’ll go so far as saying that it might be our favorite in this list, though not the only one to include countless keyboard themes. Aside from that, though, you can also create your very own keyboard with the app’s keyboard builder. Using your favorite image as a background, you can then customize the color, transparency, size, and even shape of your keys, in a process that is as fun as it is creative. Unlike with ai.type, however, you don’t get to share you creation on the market, but we feel that makes the experience just a bit more special.
Another layer of fun is added by the many emojis and stickers Redraw offers up. For the sake of full disclosure, most of the emojis, sticker packs, and themes can be purchased through Redraw’s in-app currency, which you can gain by completing achievements. Granted, they can be completed by simply using the keyboard, and just like with other gamified apps, you also have a leaderboard featuring the highest scores of all Redraw users.
That’s all fun and everything, but we did promise this was more than just an app for your probably-imaginary 13-year-old niece. The cool thing, we feel, about Redraw Keyboard is that it perfectly combines work and fun. In that respect, the app has Google Drive and Google Translate fully integrated. That means that you can send any file you have in your Drive through email or text, and translate any incoming message or one you want to send out to and from any language.
Now that’s a lot of helpful features to have in one keyboard, which is what makes Redraw a great app to consider when you’re looking for an Arabic keyboard for Android.
3. Arabic Language – GO Keyboard
GO Keyboard has been around for a long time, and it’s gone through some changes over the years. As with Redraw Keyboard, you get a massive amount of themes, over 10,000 according to its Google Play description (tempted as we were, we did not count them all). However, just like with the ai.type keyboard app, you need to download the original app and then the Arabic language app. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be ready to go and experience all of GO’s features in your own language.
Aside from its incredible theme library, you’ll also be able to customize your keyboard with some fun fonts and colors. You also get auto-correct and word prediction, which is fairly standard with keyboard apps at this point. The most useful feature we’ve found, is the ability to add words to the app’s dictionary, which makes it dead-easy to make word prediction even more accurate. Granted this might be a tad difficult at first, because it does depend on the language and context, but it’s a feature you don’t get with most other apps, and it’s one we appreciate.
Read any of GO Keyboard’s reviews and you’ll inevitably learn that the app can seem a bit over-stuffed. Well, this review is no different because it’s true: GO can seem to be crammed and hard to get around all the features. That said, once you get passed that, it’s a pretty solid app that gives you an Arabic keyboard free download, and that’s what drew us to it in the first place.
Swiftkey is another app that’s been around for a while and, after it was acquired by Microsoft in 2016, it seems to have gotten better. Before anything, though, it’s important to say that, unlike ai.type and GO Keyboard, you don’t need a separate Arabic keyboard download to use with this keyboard app. You only need do download the pack within the app, which makes for a pretty seamless experience, as the app is very easy to use.
The first thing you need to know about Swiftkey is that it probably has one of the best word prediction algorithm we’ve come across, which is really saying something. And with great prediction comes great autocorrect. The secret sauce behind these great features lies in the fact that the app basically learns from you. From slang words to nicknames, Swiftkey will learn from your typing style and deliver on the autocorrect front when you mistype anything while you’re swipe typing away.
Aside from that, the app also has some neat customization features. Though it doesn’t have the number of themes GO keyboard has, or the unique personalization perks Redraw offers, Swiftkey has some great theme designs that are completely free. It also allows you to choose between several keyboard sizes, though you can’t really change it to any size you want, but we don’t feel like that would be a great inconvenience. You can also adjust the layout to fit the way you type. For example, if you’re a thumb-typing fan, you can split the keyboard in two, making typing easier. Or, you can move the entire keyboard to the left or right, if you’re typing with one hand.
All-in-all, Swiftkey is a reliable Arabic keyboard for Android. It may not have as many fun features as some other apps on this list, but it’s one that will stand the test of time.
